Knight of the High Tower V1.2 Update Notes + Future


Hello again everyone, as with last time I'll just start with the patch notes for V1.2, which should be live shortly after this devlog. I do hope you enjoy playing, and feel free to leave feedback (it'll be extremely important for an upcoming thing*).

-Rarities have been adjusted. This is so that Rare items don't feel like a myth and extremely hard to get, yet still maybe only getting one or two max showing up in your run

-Added stabilized singularity, a rare terrain based item that stores manipulation when an enemy piece falls

-Added glass, a new tile that can be stepped on once, with the second step causing any piece on it to fall to their death

-Added balls, a new tile that can be hit to perform a 2 damage ranged attack at the cost of manipulation and weird aim

-Added a third item slot. While this may not make it for the rest of the game*, I wanted to add it since it's currently hard to get specific items, so I wanted to make it feel a little more fair and help craft your build a little better

-You can now use your terrain inventory out of order (previously, it would ignore anything beyond the first slot if the first slot was empty)

-Trusty Trowel can now be used even if you don't have any manipulation

-Nerfed the picklesword. It now only procs once per turn instead of infinitely. This will be changed in the future*

-The explosive powder sprite has been changed slightly and is now properly centered. I'm sorry if you didn't notice before. Don't go back to look now

-Added the special sponge. Allows you to remove one free non-wall and non-floor terrain for free, granting you manipulation if you do so

-Added the gravedigger's shovel, an item that allows you to dig up an enemy's tile once per turn if you have enough manipulation (greater than or equal to their remaining health)

-Added Round Trip, an item that allows you to wrap around to the other side of the board. Also grants +1 Movement

-Added the Slice Skate, an item that deals damage while moving, at the cost of 1 attack. Also allows you to move 3 spaces orthagonally

-Added a new tooltip when hovering over items to be able to see the rarity of an item


Again, I hope you enjoy this new version of Knight of the High Tower. It's now time to go over why I shoved asterisks in here.

My next focus is not going to be Knight of the High Tower V1.3, and in fact, I doubt that will even come out. Rather, I'm reworking the entire game again from scratch to try to make something new. "New." A lot of the items and tiles seen in this game will be seen alongside more in this expanded version of the game. I'm not 100% sure on what I'm going to call it,  but I've got a lot of new concepts and ideas that I'll need the new system to explore (new playable pieces, more unique enemy types, various locations you can travel to, etc.). 

I won't entirely stop support for this though. I will try to do some general bugfixing, as bugfixing here can also help me prevent bugs in the new version (which I'm certain will have it's own share of bugs).
